Resin Dryers
L-R Systems' resin dryer line offers a variety of dryer types designed to meet the needs of our customers. We offer systems designed to be mounted on your machine's throat, systems to be placed alongside your machine and central drying location. Dryer systems can be loaded with our handy, portable auto hopper loaders or with the vacuum chambers of one of our central conveying systems. Standard features include:

- Models are available in industry-standard 2-bed (LRARID-X FM Series) and high-performance 4-bed (LRHP4-X FM Series)
- Space-saving compact design available for process rates up to 750 lbs/hr
- Electric valves
- Easy-change filters
- Temperature-based regeneration control
- Programmable PLC with full diagnostics
- Insulated carbon steel or stainless steel drying hoppers
- Dryer hoses and casters are included
Energy efficiency:
- Most energy efficient dryer in the market (when compared to compressed air, rotary wheel, vacuum and other dual bed dryers)
- Single blower design for process and regeneration air
- On-demand regeneration; adjusts to ambient conditions, materials and process rates
- Desiccant tower design maximizes heat transfer
- -49ºF to -130ºF dew points; as dry air, not ambient air is used for regeneration or cool down of desiccant towers, slip stream of low dew point air is used
Hopper Mount Dryers

- Press / Extruder mounted dryers free up floor space and are available for process rates up to 40 lbs/hr
- Industry-standard 2-bed (LRARID-X) Series dryers feature our UDC control as standard
Centralized drying
One dryer connects to multiple hoppers for a centralized, expandable drying system.
- Centralized drying systems can be used with L-R Systems or other material handling systems for a complete, central, drying and conveying system
- Can accommodate up to 2000 pound hopper capacities
Drying Hoppers
Uniform drying with easy accessibility for cleaning are key to proper hopper design.
- Standard sizes range from 5 to 2000 lbs (2 to 907 kg); based on 35 lbs/ft3*
- Unique diffuser basket dries resin down to the slide gate and allows for drying less than full hoppers

- Full length site glass is standard on Models LRRH60 and larger
- Insulated side walls eliminate heat loss and conserve energy
Hot Air Dryer
- High pressure blower
- Stainless steel booster heater enclosure
- PID based digital temperature controllers with display for set and actual temperatures
- Through the door disconnect
Dryer Options
Adjustable Fill Sensor – consists of a proximity sensor that slides (on rails) along a sight glass on the sidewall of the drying hopper. Normally tied into a hopper loader, the sensor can be adjusted up and down to control material levels in the hopper for more or less material. It is also useful to prevent over-drying of materials by matching the hopper capacity to the throughput of the mold.
High Temperature Hose – this option should also be used when drying materials over the 250°F (120°C) level on a continuous basis. It consists of insulation over the hose covered by an outer sleeve to prevent heat loss and improve operator safety.
Low Material Sensor & Light – incorporated with the adjustable fill sensor option, an additional proximity sensor is placed on the adjustable rails. An alarm light will warn you if the material level in the hopper is getting low. It can also be incorporated with the adjustable fill sensor option. It can also be located in the sidewall of the drying hopper (orange light).
Magnet Drawer – located under the hopper, this magnet picks up all ferrous metals found in materials, especially regrind, that may ruin your process and/or molding machine screw. It is also easier to clean than hopper magnets.
Water After-Cooler (Heat Exchanger) – this option should be used when drying materials over the 250°F (120°C) level on a continuous basis. If the return temperature is too hot coming back into the desiccant bed, the desiccant will not be as effective in removing moisture. The water after-cooler is located on the return airline and utilizes water from a chiller or tap water. Two 1/4” n.p.t. taps are required for installation.
Plasticizer Trap – some materials release volatile byproducts (i.e. oils) when being dried. It is important to trap these byproducts out of the return air before returning to the desiccant beds. Such byproducts can contaminate the desiccant and filter, thus affecting dew point. It’s always used in combination with the water-cooled after-cooler option that condenses the byproducts out of the air stream.
Alarm Light – general system alarm, temperature, dew point, etc… (red light)
